Sophie Powell is from Woodinville, Washington and grew up training with former PNB principal Deborah Hadley. From there they trained at Houston Ballet Academy in the professional division, before moving to Pittsburgh to train at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. In Pittsburgh Sophie danced with Texture Contemporary Ballet as a resident dancer. After moving back to Washington, they started dancing with Olympic Ballet Theatre in November
